How Wolf Igniters Work
Wolf ranges use electronic igniters that create a spark to light the gas. When you turn a burner knob, the igniter produces rapid sparks while gas flows to the burner. Once lit, the igniter stops.
Common Igniter Problems
Continuous Clicking Without Lighting
This usually indicates one of three issues:
Moisture in the igniter area. After cleaning or spills, moisture can prevent proper sparking. Solution: Let the area dry completely. You can speed this by leaving burner knobs in the "lite" position for 10-15 minutes without gas flow, or use a hair dryer on low heat.
Debris blocking the igniter. Food particles or grease can insulate the igniter, preventing sparks from reaching the gas. Solution: Gently clean around the igniter with a soft brush. Never use water directly on the igniter.
Faulty igniter. If cleaning doesn't help, the igniter itself may need replacement. This requires professional service.
Clicking Continues After Burner Lights
This often indicates:
Misaligned burner cap. If the cap isn't seated properly, the flame sensor can't detect the flame. Solution: Remove the cap and reposition it carefully.
Dirty flame sensor. Residue on the sensor prevents proper flame detection. Solution: Gently clean the sensor area with a soft cloth.
No Clicking at All
When turning the knob produces no clicking:
Check other burners. If all igniters fail simultaneously, the issue is likely electrical - a tripped breaker or faulty spark module. Reset the breaker and test again.
Single burner failure. If only one burner won't click, that specific igniter or its wiring may be faulty. This requires professional diagnosis.
Arizona-Specific Considerations

- Cause temporary igniter malfunction
- Create moisture buildup under burner caps
- Affect electronic components
